Voice Static

Yesterday was David's and my nine month wedding anniversary. Woohoo! That went by quickly. We could have had a baby by now! One of the most fun experiences of my life was the first road trip I took with David to his parents' house in Eastern Pennsylvania. We had only been dating for a couple of months at the time.

We were forced to make our trip over a weekend, so our (ill-advised) plan was to come home from work, immediately sleep until Midnight, and then drive all the way through to the morning. Of course, we had an extremely hard time trying to fall asleep at 6 PM, so we ended up leaving around 10 PM with NO sleep and plans to drive all night.

The stupidity of our plan reared its ugly head around 3 in the morning, when, despite copious amounts of caffeine, we were dangerously sleepy. Unable to keep our eyelids open any longer, we pulled into a rest stop and said "Let's just sleep for a couple of hours." 6 hours later, we woke up with terrible breath, stiff necks, and greasy skin. I don't think there is anything worse than sleeping in your car at a rest stop. PLUS, you know... there was fear of that serial killer with a hook for a hand.

Nevertheless, we made it safely to our destination and one day later, departed for home.

We were confined in a car together for 20 hours that weekend, and I probably laughed for 18 of them. (The other two were spent eating). Both of us yelling in my Jetta at the tops of our lungs, trying to create "voice static"... now THAT is good times, good times. (Don't ask.) I knew I was falling in love with him.

I'd have to say that was the best car ride of my life. We haven't tried to create voice static all that much since then, but it happens accidentally now and then.

I'm curious if anyone has a clue what we're talking about.
